Students registered for summer classes will have access to the Penguin Pantry over the summer. Food boxes will be distributed on Tuesday, July 26 and Tuesday, Aug. 23.

To receive boxes on these days, students must sign up by Friday, July 22 and Friday, Aug. 19 respectively, at the “Penguin Pantry Order Form” link located under “Get Started” on the right side menu after logging into their MyClark@Clark account. Further information on the Pantry’s operations can be found at https://www.clark.edu/campus-life/student-support/penguinpantry/index.php.

Student Life Program Support Supervisor Sami Lelo recommends the Clark County Food Bank for students looking for more food to get them through summer.

“We have a great partnership with them,” said Lelo. “They have a wealth of resources that I feel every student should participate in from offering locations throughout Vancouver.”

Students can check out Clark County Food Bank food pantry locations at https://www.clarkcountyfoodbank.org/foodfinder, where anyone can visit multiple locations and get food boxes or shop in-person almost daily. These other pantries offer a wide range of food from shelf-stable items to fruits, vegetables, dairy, bread and toiletries.

Students are also encouraged to sign up for SNAP Benefits at https://www.clarkcountyfoodbank.org/snap, which come in the form of a prepaid debit card that can be used at designated stores on pre-approved food items. Additionally, the Clark County Food Bank offers free classes for cooking and food nutrition at https://www.clarkcountyfoodbank.org/nutritioneducation.
