Clark class of 2020 and 2021 graduates have until June 4 to sign up for the graduation ceremony on June 17. The ceremony will include masks, social distancing and limited attendance.
Graduates must complete the commencement and graduation steps by the final deadline to participate in the ceremony.
“The June 4 deadline is pretty set, due to logistics with figuring out the number of students how far apart chairs need to be,” Clark Senior Communications Specialist Hannah Erickson said.
This year’s ceremony will take place on Christensen Soccer Field on June 17 at 6:30 p.m. Only graduates, faculty and staff will be present. The ceremony will be live streamed for friends and family to view. Erickson said that Clark anticipates creating a fully captioned recording of the live-stream a week after the ceremony.
Last year, Clark held a virtual ceremony for the class of 2020 graduates due to COVID-19 restrictions. They promised the class that they could participate in this year’s in-person ceremony with the class of 2021.
As of May 26, about 450 graduates had signed up to participate in the ceremony, said Erickson.
Graduates who submit a cap and gown order after April 16 will not be guaranteed a cap and gown, but Clark has extras on a first come, first serve basis.
“Most faculty will be there, along with staff who volunteer their time at the event,” Erickson said. “They’ll be clapping very loudly to make up for friends and family who cannot attend in-person.”
