Another One Bites the Dust: Vice President of Instruction Will Not Return to Clark

On Friday, Clark College President Karen Edwards announced the immediate departure of Sachi Horback, vice president of instruction.

Horback was placed on administrative leave through June 2021 and will not return for the 2021-22 academic year.

This is the third senior staff member to leave the college during the 2020-21 school year.

“I understand that with four EC positions currently being filled by interim appointments, the team is undergoing significant transition,” Edwards said through an all-staff email.

In October, Edwards disclosed that Vice President of Administrative Services and Human Resources Bob Williamson and Vice President of Student Affairs Bill Belden were both set to transition out of their roles by the end of 2020. Williamson accepted another leadership position out of state, while Belden’s contract was terminated.

In January, Edwards revealed that Williamson had returned temporarily as a Special Projects Administrator.

“I want to assure all of you – classified employees, faculty, admin/exempt staff, our two unions, and our students that our college will have a leadership team that is strong, committed and inspirational, and that we will conduct inclusive and transparent search processes,” Edwards said. “Your voices matter.”

Horback served as vice president of instruction since July 2018.
