Community invited to ‘vote’ for best dressed nominees
The Share organization is hosting the “Glitz! Glam! Red Carpet! Gala,” a dinner event with a best dressed silent auction. A variety of 11 professionals will be attending, including Clark College President Bob Knight. The gala will be held April 27 at the Vancouver Hilton Hotel doors open at 5:00 p.m. Tickets and tables can be purchased at sharevancouver.org or by calling (360) 952-8223.
Clark Faculty and Supporters March for Fair Wages
On Feb. 13 Clark faculty marched across campus to support the budgeting team that is still locked in contract negations with Clark administrators. President Knight said the college can not afford the faculty pay raise which could bring the schools budget cuts to over five percent for the next next year.
BankMobile Creating New Fees for Students
On Jan. 18, BankMobile announced they will be adding a new $1.99 fee for every payment cycle unless a $300 deposit is made. It will not cause overdraft, and is now offering one percent back on gas and groceries.
Local makes hall of fame
Clark added Vancouver resident Todd Quigley to the Clark College athletic hall of fame for golf, along with his team mates.
Students who beat steep odds credit educators who wouldn’t give up on them
Thirty four of Washington’s community and technical colleges are nominating one exceptional student from each school for the “transforming lives” awards. The awards are determined by a seven-member panel made of the college trustees. Only five students receive the award and a $500 scholarship.
