VANCOUVER, WA. The Clark College Concert Choir under the direction of Dr. Jacob Funk present their Fall Concert on Saturday, December 8, 2018 7:00 pm in the Vancouver First United Methodist Church, 401 E 33rd St, Vancouver, WA. The Concert Choir is side the Vancouver Chamber Singers, directed by Joel Karn, as a part of the Encore Concert Series Winter Choral Festival 2018 at the Vancouver First United Methodist Church.
The Concert Choir’s music from many continents and time periods represented, from the 1500’s to a piece written just this last year. Highlights include the opening chorus from J.S. Bach’s cantata number 61, Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland, as well as Hassler’s “Ad angelus ad pastores ait.” Listeners will be treated to other works in English, Estonian, and Yoruba.
Admission to the performance free and open to the public. Donations to the Clark College Music Department are welcome at the door.
“In addition to our performance at the First United Methodist Church, our choirs are singing in the annual Festival of Lights at The Grotto in Portland,” says Dr. Funk. Singing this repertoire in that space is a really moving experience.” The Concert Choir performs on Monday, Dec 10 at 9 pm.
