VANCOUVER, WA. The Clark College Women’s Choral Ensemble and Clark College Chorale under the direction of Dr. Jacob Funk present their Fall Concert on Thursday, December 6, 2018 7:30 pm in the Vancouver First United Methodist Church, 401 E 33rd St, Vancouver, WA. Featured on the program is Mendelssohn’s “Weihnachten” and Hassler’s “Dixit Maria” along with more contemporary arrangements of “Personent Hodie” and “The Wexford Carol.” In honor of the 200th anniversary of Silent Night, the choir will perform “Silent Night For All the World.” The Women’s Choral Ensemble will be performing selections from the winter season, including works newly composed and traditional. Highlights include “Suscepit Israel” from J.S. Bach’s Magnificat and a rousing arrangement of “Riu Riu Chiu.” The choir will also perform a modern Estonian piece entitled “Mis on inimene.”
“In addition to our performance at the First United Methodist Church, our choirs are singing in the annual Festival of Lights at The Grotto in Portland,” says Dr. Funk. Singing this repertoire in that space is a really moving experience.” The Chorale performs on Sunday, Dec 2 at 9 pm and the Women’s Ensemble on Tuesday, Dec 11 at 9pm.
Admission to the performance free and open to the public. Donations to the Clark College Music Department are welcome at the door.
