Student Involvement Fair

Student Life held a “Pokémon Go” themed student involvement fair last Thursday as a fun way to inform Clark students about the variety of clubs and resources that Clark has to offer Fall quarter.

The fair started at 10 a.m. in the Andersen Fountain Plaza. Five minutes after starting, brief chaos arose when the fountain actually turned on, giving both attendees and volunteers quite a surprise. The water remained on for about two minutes, but no booths were damaged.

Clubs such as Queer Penguins and Allies, Clark College Students for Life and the Mechatronics Club had information tables set up. Most booths had Pokémon-themed decorations, such as Pikachu stuffed animals, Pokéball-shaped desserts or even a Pokéstop art piece. Many fair volunteers were even dressed as Pokémon.

“We are trying to get the word out about the services we provide for students,” said Student Success and Retention Manager Melissa Williams, who overlooked the Student Success Programs booth. Williams said that the program helps students with strategies such as memorization skills and note-taking, and can even help with test anxiety.

Attendees were treated to free pizza, swing music, dancing and a free Pokémon-themed photo booth funded by Student Life.
