Culinary Remodel Delayed

Clark officials have declined bids for the culinary remodel in PUB, after the lowest bid was more than $1 million above the allocated budget for construction.

According to officials, two construction companies submitted bids to complete the project. The college declined both, in favor of waiting until after the summer months when demand for construction is expected to decline.

Project Manager Mayra Werner said construction was slated to begin in June. However, “the plan now is to make modifications in response to changes requested by the culinary staff” until the fall, when bidding should be more beneficial to the college, Werner said.

Clark officials say that they are not sure how the construction delays will affect the restart of the culinary and baking programs at this time.
