Clark’s Health Services department is celebrating its first Mental Health Awareness Month with a week-long scavenger hunt ending May 31.
For the scavenger hunt, participants need to locate 11 quotes around campus. The first 20 participants to complete and turn in a map of the locations to Health Services will receive a “self-care swag bag,” which includes water, vitamins, a bookstore gift card, self-care brochures and a stress ball.
A series of quotes are scattered across campus promoting self-care. This includes a quote from the New York Times and international bestselling author Eleanor Brown: “Self-care is not selfish. You cannot serve from an empty vessel.”
Clark counselor Dr. Eliot Altschul will be leading walking meditations through the Royce E. Pollard Japanese Friendship Garden to demonstrate mindfulness Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Counseling and Health Center Program Coordinator Marianne Luther said this week’s events are aimed to promote “self care, being good to yourself and taking care of yourself.”
Around 30 students have received their maps and have begun the hunt, according to Sharon Sands from Health Services.
