Vine Construction Underway

Four new bus stops and two streetlights for the new bus system are currently under construction on Clark’s main thoroughfare, Fort Vancouver Way, and are planned to be completed by this Fall.

The new bus line, the Vine, “will replace C-TRAN’s 4 and 44 routes, greatly improving reliability, mobility [and] capacity,” said Christine Selk, C-Tran Communications and Public Affairs manager.

The streetlights are located along Fort Vancouver Way near PUB at the red and green lot exits.

Construction was originally planned to begin this summer, so as not to disturb students. However, Clark gave C-Tran permission to begin over winter break, according to project inspector Chris Rainey.

The bus stop is part of the Vine’s 33-stop line, traveling from downtown Vancouver to the Vancouver Mall, to be completed this December.

The Federal Transit Administration is allotting $14 million towards this project, according to Selk.
