Softball Splits Another Doubleheader

By Ryan Rutledge in Sports

The Clark softball team faced the Pierce College Raiders in a doubleheader at home Thursday. The Penguins won the first game 9-6, but lost the second 7-6.

The first game started after an hour rain delay.

At the end of the fifth inning the score was 3-2, Pierce, but Clark had an outburst of offense in the bottom of the sixth inning. Half the team scored a run bringing it to 9-4, Clark. Pierce tried to rally in the seventh, but fell short with a final score of 9-6 for the Penguins.

Clark started the second game with a run in the first inning, but quickly fell behind. The fifth ended with a score of 7-3 Pierce.

The Penguins regrouped in the sixth, with freshman players Sam Oldham, Haley Hamilton and Reva Smith scoring a run each. This wasn’t enough for Clark to clinch the win, and the game ended without another run, 7-6 Pierce.

The Penguins’ next game is a doubleheader at Clackamas Community College on April 1.
