‘Taste of the Islands’ Celebration

Community members and students joined celebrated Asian Pacific Islander culture at a “Taste of the Islands” celebration and ukulele jam session Thursday afternoon.

The event was hosted by the Asian Pacific Islander Club and the Activities Programming Board in effort to educate the Clark College community in Asian and Pacific Island cultures, according to club president Johanna Inoke.

Workshops on hula dancing, ukulele and Sai Penese storytelling were featured between 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in PUB 258 A, 258 B and 258 C.

Participants in those workshops provided live entertainment in a ukulele jam session accompanied with hula dancing while attendees cheered and chewed on free Hawaiian food in the Gaiser Student Center.
