The Phoenix, Clark College’s annual award-winning art and literature magazine, will release its 37th issue on May 10 in the Gaiser Hall Fireside Lounge.
The staff has been working on the edition since Winter quarter, sorting through over 270 applications submitted by students, staff and alumni, all hoping to make this year’s issue. The 144-page spread includes over 20 art articles and 70 literature pieces.
The public unveiling will start at 1 p.m. and will feature speakers from the Phoenix staff and advisors. Food and seating will be provided, and the staff has prepared a slideshow featuring select art and literature pieces from the issue.
Managing Editor Lily Hart said that applicants are chosen on merit. “Our top priority is quality,” Hart said. All applications were submitted anonymously to ensure honesty and fair-mindedness from the Phoenix staff.
The Phoenix will begin accepting submissions on its website for next year’s edition at the end of May.
