30 Clicks: Internet Privacy Workshop

The 30-Clicks series will continue with a free internet privacy workshop hosted by librarian Zachary Grant Wednesday at 12:15 p.m. in Cannell Library.

The workshop will examine how personal info is shared, both intentionally and accidentally. Grant plans to share methods of securing browsers and messages. The American Civil Liberties Union has stated that new technology can bring new opportunities for private data to be monitored by third-parties, including the government.

The 30-Clicks series began in 2010 and is designed to help students learn and network using technology, according to the library’s website. Next in the series will be a Microsoft OneNote information session, to be presented by specialist Pavel Popov and technician Serge Kachenkov on May 18. The final workshop for Spring quarter will cover mobile apps with librarian Kitty Mackey on May 25.

The library records and posts all sessions on their website, though free chocolate offered at the events may be an incentive for students to attend in person.
