Women Lose a Tough One to Umpqua

The Clark women’s basketball team will travel across the Columbia River for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff with Clackamas Community College.

The Penguins are coming in after what appeared to be a 78-58 loss to Umpqua Community College on Saturday afternoon.

“We were offensively stagnant”, said co-captain Caylee Newsom. “And we played timid.”

The Penguins were 29 percent from the field, while the Riverhawks were 51 percent.

“We gave them a lot of easy baskets early on,” said coach Al Aldridge. “They got good, uncontested shots.”
Umpqua scored 33 points in the first quarter while Clark scored 16, which proved to be too much of a deficit for them to overcome.
