The Clark women’s basketball team will host Umpqua Community College on Saturday at 2 p.m. in league play.
The Penguins carved out a 62-49 win in a back and forth game against the Chemeketa Storm on Wednesday, where the lead changed five times.
“It was a rough start in the beginning, but we pounded them in the middle,” said head coach Al Aldridge.
Freshmen Shental Aleki and Kendyl Cone shot for a combined 34 points and had 13 rebounds.
“Our offensive charge was a game changer,” said sophomore Caylee Newsom.
Wednesday’s victory marked the Penguins fifth straight win and placed them in second place in the NWAC southern division. They are second only to undefeated Lane Community College.
“I’m really happy with the progress they have made this season”, said Bob Knight, Clark College President, who attended Wednesday’s matchup.
Nice story about the ladies team, it’s nice to see them get some ink, hope to see more in the future.
Thank you, Owen!
It’s a winning streak and I will be looking for the 6th win!!
Thanks, bro. Unfortunately they lost on Saturday. They (Clark) are in a tough division, and played the division’s second ranked team. Tomorrow’s game against Clackamas looks to be a game penguins can win.
