The Career Services department offers a LinkedIn workshop twice every quarter. The next workshop will be on Feb. 18.
At the last workshop on Jan. 28, Carolyn Johnson, program coordinator of Career Services discussed the importance of LinkedIn.
According to Johnson, LinkedIn has become the professional way to make contacts online. “LinkedIn is a powerful and professional way to connect with people who can help you to find a job,” Johnson said. It’s best to start connecting with people early on, said Johnson, because it usually takes 50 or more contacts before a potential employer can seriously consider you.
In addition to the workshop, Career Services provides students and community members with LinkedIn profile critiques with the goal of increasing the number of potential employers and contacts. Career Services also helps students with job interview training, resume critiques, vocational tests among other services.
