Foundation Exceeds $20 Million Goal

By Kamerin Johnson in Campus

The Clark College Foundation exceeded its $20 million goal for the “Ensuring a Bright Future: Campaign for Clark College” by almost $7 million. On Sept. 30, attendees celebrated at the Andersen Fountain for two hours with light food, interactive booths and music.

The booths featured several Clark services and departments including the Oliva Family Early Learning Center, dental hygiene, music, engineering & computer science, fitness and scholarships, and the Excellence Fund for Teaching and Learning.

The foundation launched the fundraising campaign in 2010 with the goal of supporting key programs of the college.

One of the main initiatives was to raise money for the Penguin Promise, a program “to provide scholarships and educational opportunities to low-income, first-generation college students,” said Shirley Schwartz, stewardship and scholarship manger for the foundation.
